2023 Abortion Protection Fund

Following the overturn of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court in June 2022, Mayor Brandon M. Scott and the City of Baltimore announced the creation of the Abortion Protection Fund, which invests in organizations that offer abortion and family planning services for Baltimore residents and visitors. This is a meaningful step toward maintaining Baltimore City’s status as a place where residents and visitors can obtain safe, legal abortion services. Maryland’s strong pro-choice legislation is not expected to change, and the City stands ready to provide expand service capacity to meet the needs of our residents and any care-seekers from states with anti-choice laws.

The first round of the Abortion Protection Fund supported six organizations providing abortion-related care. Applications for this grant program closed on August 21, 2023 at 5 p.m.
