New Name Same Mission: Bolder Focus on Transparency, Accountability and Impact
Baltimore, MD. – The Baltimore City Foundation is formally announcing its new name –the Baltimore Civic Fund.
For nearly 40 years, the Baltimore Civic Fund has been serving as a fiscal agent for the City’s executive and philanthropic communities. But as the organization has evolved over the decades, the Board realized the name needed to better reflect the next phase in its development as a unique private-public partnership focused on improving the lives of Baltimoreans. Now the nonprofit is unveiling a new name, the Baltimore Civic Fund, that better reflects its new focus on providing more services such as technical assistance and fund development for its partners.
In the fall of 2017, the Civic Fund embarked on a strategic planning process to evaluate and redefine its vision and mission to determine its role in Baltimore’s philanthropic landscape. The new name – Baltimore Civic Fund – reflects our bolder goal to serve as true fiscal liaison and as an equitable intermediary for public and private funds.
While the mission of the Foundation will remain intact – to improve the quality of life for all residents of Baltimore – the Baltimore Civic Fund will assume a significantly more proactive role in working with city agencies and the philanthropic community to facilitate citywide collaboration and promote public-private partnerships.
“The Baltimore Civic Fund has been a critical resource for the city for nearly four decades,” states Dr. John Brothers, President of the T. Rowe Price Foundation and the Chair for the Baltimore Civic Fund. “I’m thrilled to be part of this growth and expansion period of the Baltimore Civic Fund to challenge ourselves in how we continue to impact positive outcomes for residents. And more importantly how we can leverage untapped resources”.
The Baltimore Civic Fund is excited to begin its new stage of growth and continues to increase its staff and board leadership during this time of incredible growth.
